Discover Children's Toys for All Ages

In the Lidl online shop, a huge selection of toys for every taste awaits you: Whether board games, puzzles and creative sets, stuffed animals and dolls, remote-controlled vehicles and building blocks or outdoor toys. If you are spoiled for choice, our tips will help you find the right toy for your child.

Which Toys for Babies?

Toys for babies up to 3 months should be simple and safe. Materials such as soft fabrics or safe plastics are ideal. For our little ones, there are colorful rattles, small stuffed animals, and first grasping toys.

Babies between 3 and 12 months begin to perceive and explore their environment more intensively. In this phase, baby toys that make sounds or move are particularly exciting. Mobiles, colorful rattles, teething rings, and play gyms promote hand-eye coordination and motor skills.

As soon as your baby can control their movements better, stacking toys, simple puzzles, or balls are recommended. These promote the development of fine motor skills. Here too, the materials should be robust and safe, ideally BPA-free and made of toxin-tested plastic or wood.

Is your little darling already crawling and making their first attempts to stand and walk? Then you can buy toys online that encourage movement. Crawling tunnels, play mats with moving elements, or activity cubes are particularly suitable. Well-crafted, splinter-free wooden toys are also the perfect choice.

Popular Toys for Children from 1 to 3 Years

Toddlers between 1 and 3 years old are true whirlwinds. They want to explore their environment and sometimes push mom and dad to their limits. Therefore, toys that promote the motor and cognitive skills of the little ones, but also encourage them to play independently so that you can take a break, are suitable for girls and boys of this age. Stacking cups, building blocks, and simple shape sorters are particularly suitable for this. Musical toys such as xylophones or drums can get on adults' nerves, but they strengthen our children's auditory perception and sense of rhythm.

At around 2 years of age, little ones begin to develop role-play. They love to imitate their environment and slip into the roles of adults. Dolls, toy figures, play kitchens, and small vehicles like ride-on cars or wooden trains are particularly interesting in this phase. Children's toys that encourage movement, such as balls, tricycles, or small swings, are also great for further developing motor skills. If you want to support the imagination of your little ones, you can order playdough, crayons, and colorful paper online to spark creativity. Simple board games or memory games are fun and train concentration and memory.

Children's Toys for Kids from 4 to 6 Years

Do you have a preschooler at home? Then you know that kids at this age are full of energy and a thirst for knowledge. They are ready to understand more complex concepts through play and to further expand their skills. Science kits, educational toys, and simple science sets are often on the wish list at this age. Boys and girls alike enjoy building blocks and construction toys, but also board games that require simple rules and strategic thinking.

Role-play is now more popular than ever. The little ones imitate our adult world with colorful play shops, beautiful play kitchens, and deceptively real-looking workbenches. At Lidl, you will find a lot of accessories for exciting children's role-play, such as hairdresser and doctor kits, household and garden utensils, and much more.

Building Blocks & Dolls: Buy Toys for Schoolchildren Online

Parents, grandparents, and friends sigh: What else can you give kids at this age? They already have everything! That's true, but: At this stage at the latest, children develop very specific interests and hobbies.

Creative children who like crafting will enjoy painting and craft cases, hand lettering sets and 3D pens, aqua or iron-on beads, engraving pens, and sewing and embroidery sets. Tech-savvy kids enjoy electronic or magnetic building sets and robotics kits, 3D puzzles, and complex science kits. In addition, you will also find sports and outdoor toys at Lidl, such as bicycles, scooters, or inline skates, which are very popular at this age.

Building blocks are and remain an evergreen and all-time favorite. Dolls and miniature cars are also among the classics. At Lidl, you can order these timeless toys at low prices – just look out for special offers and promotions to grab a bargain.

Buying the Right Toy: 5 Tips for Parents

Good toys should not only be fun and educational, but also meet a few other criteria.

  • Safety first: Your child should only play with toys made of non-toxic, pollutant-free materials. This is especially important for toys for babies and smaller children who put everything in their mouths. Look for recognized test seals such as the CE mark, which confirm that the product complies with European safety standards. In addition, toys should be robust and well-made so that the little ones do not injure themselves with broken or loose parts.
  • Buy age-appropriate toys: We want to encourage our children, but not overwhelm them. Therefore, it is always good to take a look at the manufacturer's age recommendation. Otherwise, it can happen that the building set gathers dust in the corner or the puzzle is only touched once because it is too complicated and not fun. In addition, toys for older children often contain small parts that can easily be swallowed by younger ones. That can be quite dangerous.
  • The easier to care for, the better: This applies especially to baby toys: plastic should be easy to clean and withstand a dishwasher cycle or two (Important: select the glass program, as temperatures are otherwise too high). Stuffed animals must regularly go into the washing machine, so they must also be robust and durable.
  • If you have to manage a large family, it is best to buy universal toys that are suitable for different age groups or can be used together by the kids. This means fewer arguments and siblings can learn to play "as a team."
  • Invest in timeless classics that are still beautiful after years and can be passed on to younger siblings or given to friends. High-quality, well-maintained toys often easily find a new owner (and the environment will thank you too).
