EPISODE 02: WELL-BEING WITH DR. JOSEPHINE WORSECK
In the second episode, we share a story of conscious change and quiet courage. Dr. Josephine Worseck's journey highlights a different, equally powerful side of Why We Try.
In the past, her life followed a set plan with the goal of climbing the career ladder higher and higher. Years of studying had mapped out her path, but deep down, something felt unfulfilled. Instead of sticking to her established route, Josephine made a brave decision: she took a new direction. Her turning point was neither loud nor dramatic. It began with a single question: How do I get to where I truly want to be? And what do I really want?
Searching for answers, she focused on her own well-being and turned her gaze inward. Through meditation, breathwork, and mindful movement in the cold, she began to reconnect with herself—leaving the noise of the outside world behind to be fully present in the moment.
Today, Josephine guides others through this exact experience. Her days begin in silence: outdoors in the cold, with meditation, gentle yoga, and conscious breathing. From there, the journey continues—plunging into ice water, hiking through snow-covered landscapes, and enjoying the stillness of the mountains.
The cold stays cold. Every single time. But the focus shifts—away from freezing feet and toward a healthy, conscious life. Breath, body, and mind are brought into perfect harmony.
What began as a personal quest for purpose is now a mission: helping others find their own path and feel good in their own bodies.
Josephine’s story shows that the path to profound change doesn't have to be long. Sometimes, it begins with a quiet but determined step in a new direction. That is what Why We Try is all about.

Ice Bathing: A Beginner's Checklist
HEALTH
Avoid ice baths if you are sick or have pre-existing health conditions (e.g., heart problems).
DURATION
Start short: 1–2 minutes of ice bathing is more than enough for beginners.
GETTING STARTED
Begin with cold showers before moving on to ice baths.
SAFETY
Choose a safe location. Enter slowly and stay where you can stand. Do not swim. Always have someone supervise you.
AFTERDROP
Do not stay in the water too long; your body temperature can continue to drop even after you get out.
BREATHING
Cold shock is normal. Calm your breathing to help your body relax.
WARMING UP
Avoid hot showers immediately after. Instead, warm up gradually.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
Listen to your body. Never force it.
