Baby Essentials: Welcome to the World!
When a new family member is on the way, the excitement is huge. New parents are often unsure about which essentials their baby really needs. What is important, what is optional, and what will you need only later? Here is the checklist for parents-to-be.

Clothing
Will it be a winter or a summer baby? The due date is a great guide for your baby's first wardrobe. The essential items are pretty much the same for summer and winter, you just adapt the materials to the season. To start, a baby needs a maximum of:
- 6 bodysuits
- 6 sleepsuits
- 2 hats
- 6 pairs of tights
- 4 sweaters or shirts
- 2 cardigans
- 6 pairs of socks
- 2 pairs of pants
- 1 jacket
- 1 pair of scratch mittens (to prevent scratching)
- seasonal essentials (sun hat, warm snowsuit)
Sizes NB to 3m fit most newborns. However, don't buy too many clothes for your baby's first wardrobe, as your little one will outgrow them in just a few weeks.

Breastfeeding & Feeding
During breastfeeding and feeding, you and your baby get closer than at any other time. Enjoy this special bonding time with these newborn essentials for your baby – and for you:
- 2+ nursing bras
- Nursing pads
- Nursing pillow
- Burp cloths
- Nipple cream
- Nursing tops for on the go
- Sterilizer
- 2+ baby bottles
- Nipples
- Bibs

Baby Care
Diapers, diapers, and more diapers – you can never have enough of them. Just as important for baby care at first are:
- Wet wipes and washcloths
- Hooded bath towel
- Bath thermometer and baby bathtub
- Nasal aspirator
- Baby hairbrush
- Diaper balm and diaper rash cream
- Baby-safe laundry detergent

Sleeping
In the first months of life, your baby mostly wants to sleep and feel secure. Create the perfect environment with these baby essentials:
- Baby crib including mattress & mattress protector
- 3 baby sleeping bags
- Fitted sheets for the crib
- Mobile
- Baby monitor
- Nightlight or mood light
- Changing table
- Changing pad
- Heat lamp for the changing table

On the Go
When it comes to exploring the world, your baby relies on a lot of things while on the go. First and foremost, these include:
- Stroller and baby carrier
- Diaper bag
- Portable bottle warmer
- Infant car seat
- Cozy blanket
- Changing mat
You can take your time when it comes to baby's first toy, a high chair, or even a diaper pail. It's also not the end of the world if you realize something is missing after the birth. Above all, your baby needs you and your love. Everything else will fall into place.
